• Check the best-before beside the lot on the base, and note that a bought-ahead six-pack has to sit somewhere for months before the last bottle is opened.

That last point is a quiet argument against the largest pack for anyone ordering before they know the product suits them. Six bottles bought in June are six bottles stored through a summer, and a bottle that has sat in a warm cupboard for four months is not the bottle that was packed.
